Full Speed Ahead in 2020

Hello members,

I would like to wish you and your families the best as we look ahead to the spring.

This is the first of my columns that will appear in the monthly newsletter, Your Health / Your Wealth. Each newsletter will give members insight, updates and helpful tips to making claim submissions quick and easy.

In this issue, we will look at:

· Speeding claim payments

· Benefits Plan Improvements

· OEBAC update

· What’s ahead in 2020

SPEEDING CLAIM PAYMENTS

The fastest method of having your claim paid is by using the OEBAC Mobile App and OEBAC Online. I would like to thank all the members who have adopted these time-saving measures for general claims.

The claims that take the most time to process are ones received through the mail that have a receipt / invoice but do not have a proper claim form. It is important that members make sure to submit the proper form for a paper claim.

Please see these resources for time-saving tips:

· How to submit a claim

· How to speed up claim payments

· How to check your claim status

· Dental claim submission process

A large number of paper claims have arrived with incomplete information (missing forms, incorrect forms, etc.) and these take a long time to evaluate. In the vast majority of cases, the incomplete claim needs to be returned to the sender to be resubmitted.

In addition, the OEBAC Team is receiving a large number of calls from members asking for the status of their claim(s). The quickest and easiest way to do this is to check the status on the OEBAC Mobile App and OEBAC Online. CLICK HERE for more information on how to do that.

OEBAC UPDATE

Our launch on November 1, 2019 and the weeks following were the busiest OEBAC will ever be. There was a mountain of information to acquire and sort through and everything had to be done at once. The OEBAC Team did their best and put in extra hours to manage that wave. I would like to thank them for their hard work and thank all members for their patience.

For the period November 1, 2019 - February 29, 2020, about 357,000 claims were made.

Of those, OEBAC has:

· About 51,500 inquiries (Average of 620 calls/emails per business day)

· Processed 63,500 paper claims

· Processed over 27,000 web claims from OEBAC Online

· Processed 39,000 claims from the OEBAC Mobile App

· Entered over 15,000 Personal Information Files (PIF) with more arriving each day

Along with all that, we are working through more than 15,000 bankers’ boxes of information received from Global Benefits.

The good news is we are slowly winning. The OEBAC Team is continuing to streamline our operations and processes toward our top goal of providing you the best level of service possible.

Plus, we are adding staff that will speed our response time on the phones.

With the phones, we are still experiencing a large volume of calls with the top subjects being:

Q: What is the status of my claim?

A: Remember you can check the status of your claim in the OEBAC Mobile app or OEBAC online.

Q: Where is my Card?

A: We are working through these questions. Please make sure you have your current address on file with IUOE Local 793.

Q: How does my coverage work?

A: We are here to help and will answer your questions. You can also check the Booklets available in the OEBAC Mobile app or OEBAC online.

WHAT’S AHEAD IN 2020

The OEBAC Team has some big things planned for 2020 and beyond.

We will be introducing a recurring e-newsletter called Your Health / Your Wealth (some of you may have already seen Issue 1). It will focus on OEBAC news and information on your plans and point members to videos and articles of interest.

OEBAC will also use the newsletter and other communications channels to help educate on your plans to help you get the most of your benefits. We will offer information on general health topics like diet, exercise and reducing stress.

We are all in this together and we have your BAC.

Best regards,

Sylvie
